Modern Evils

In this day and age there are a number of pieces of technology that most people can’t survive without. Among them there are computers, tablets, MP3 players, GPS’s, and cell phones. With all this technology at everyone’s finger tips it has caused the majority of people to become rudder, inconsiderate and less knowledgeable.

In my opinion one of the biggest culprits is the cell phone. With this piece of technology most people have no problem ignoring everyone and everything going on around them. Not to mention the safety issues that they can cause. With the modern cell phone you not only can talk to someone anywhere, but you can also text and surf the internet.

My reasons for this being such an evil device are in my mind simple. They are causing a major disconnect in human interactions. People now days spend every waking moment of their day with their phones plastered to their hands. In fact I am willing to bet at least half of the people reading this entry are doing so on their phones.

Plus not to mention the people that think it is okay to have a loud conversation when out in public. An exam of this is when checking out at the grocery store. I don’t know about everyone else, but, I don’t care about Uncle Bob’s bunions or worse that John is sleeping with Jane behind his wife’s back.

When I was younger cell phones were a rarity, expensive, large and unreliable. So there for if someone wanted to get ahold of you they had to call your house or you had to call them. That way your private conversations could be just that private.

That meant that you had to actually have real interactions with other human beings and not a hand held device. I often miss the older days of no cell phones. Everyone should try just for one day to put down the cell phone and have a real conversation with someone in your family or even better a complete stranger.

I hope you all enjoyed this little rant/commentary about cell phones. If you enjoyed this rant please give it a like to let me know. Also if you have any thoughts, comments, or suggestions for future entries please feel free to leave it in the comments.
